Iran slams violation of human rights in Afghanistan

Tehran, IRNA - Permanent representative of Iran to the International Organizations in Geneva says that Tehran strongly condemns any kind of aggression, extremism, and violation of human rights in Afghanistan.

Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh made the remarks at a special meeting on human rights council.

At his remarks, Baghaei Hamaneh said that Afghan people deserve to live in a peaceful conditions at their homes and have good ties with neighbors without illegitimate military interference; and this will happen solely through an inclusive government with participation of all ethnic and religious groups of the Afghan society.

Process of peace and reconciliation under the Afghanistan's leadership and control should be accelerated, said the envoy underlining that achievements of the Afghan nation should not be endangered.

Condemning aggression in Afghanistan, Baghaei Hamaneh said no crime has to be left unpunished.

He went on to say that the current situation in Afghanistan surely relates to the US long-term military interference.

United States did make Afghanistan face pain, disappointment, and destruction, said Baghaei Hamaneh, adding that Washington also expanded insecurity and instability across the region.

They cannot run away from the responsibility they have for aftermath of their tragic military presence in Afghanistan, he stressed.

Then, he called on the international society to shoulder its joint responsibility for helping Afghan refugees have proper COVID-19 vaccines.

During the past four decades, Iran has had close ties with Afghanistan and hosted millions of Afghan refugees, the envoy said.

During the past years, Iran has made all its efforts to help Afghanistan advance, he noted.

At the end of his remarks, the envoy said Iran has already made all its effort to facilitate the Afghan peace talks, and will do it in the future.
